engine hoist
 

My winter project will be the '75 BMW 2002. I need a enginne hoist to pull the motor and tranny.

Glad to hear you are going to dedicate some time to the Bimmer, let me know when you plan on attacking it. I would like to come lend a hand, and talk some smack :twisted: .

I'll post a date for the engine lift when I get close. Thanks for the ride today. It makes me miss my SC.

Sounds like a fun project. Have you checked Harbor Freight for a hoist? Just a thought. I'll plan on being there, unable to offer much skilled help but plenty of stories about my old 2002.

Second if it somehow doesn't work with Dave. Probably not as easy either.
Mine is an electric one I just got at HF. It doesn't have a frame but I chain it to a 4x6 piece of lumber that spans about 12' across the attic trusses.

So wait... you LIFT the engine OUT of the car? What kind of craziness is that?

....as crazy as the american mechanics who tried to remove the 356 engine out the top! the german mechanics they told this to didn't believe it could be done.

2002? I've always wanted one. Let me drive it and I'll do anything you want. Well, just about anything.
