Need track rubber suggestions.

I just came into a super deal on a set of beater 17" track wheels that need new rubber and pick them up tonight. I've only called Craven so far, but their pricing on RA-1's was ridiculous. At those prices, I'm better off running my Pzeros on the track, which I bought the track wheels in order to spare. What's the best bang for the buck out there for 7x17's and 9x17's and where do I get them fast? Thanks.

Bought my RA-1's from Radial Tire in Silver Spring. Great service and great prices....just expect a crowd when you get there. They are extremely busy.

I paid about $750 for tires, mounting and balancing. 235/40/17 and 255/40/17

They also have a huge inventory.

Radial Tire, where you'll receive a PCA member discount. I'd suggest taking the wheels in with your pickem-up truck and have the tires mounted / balanced. As Vu said, that place is crazy busy.

Busy is right. I can't get them to pick up the phone. Checking with Curry's right now too. They have low-price guarantee and are a lot closer than Radial.

Hmmm...verrrry interesting. Let us know if the guarantee includes RA-1's.

If I remember correctly, the Radial Tires prices included mounting/balancing. Need to check papers to verify.

RL, be patient. :D

Ok, just got through to Radial. Looks like $700 total for everything - very nice. But I don't know how/when I can get there during bus. hrs. Tech session Sat isn't far away, but I have to bring the 993 to get inspected. Waiting to hear back from Curry's. I'll figure something out.

Ok, looks like Curry's is $100 more, but they're much closer to my house and open later than Radial. No chance at all I can make it to Radial for drop-off and pick-up when they're open.

Richard, Richard, Richard… it may not be fun being you, but it sure is fun reading about your trials :!: Working downtown why not simply take the Metro w/1 wheel out to Radial at lunch. The next day take another out & pick up the 1st. Repeat, repeat etc. By the end of the week you can have all the tires mounted & ready to go 8) You wont have to waste time at the gym this week & I bet a lot of women will ask what the h@#* you are doing (just don't eat on the metro :!: )

E-bay, E-bay, E-bay ... I just picked up my set of rims and RA-1's (new and mounted) via an auction. Will have them delivered to the house this Friday :)

Now on the other hand, the thought of anybody on the metro trying to explain to a young lady what they are doing with a rim while at the same time trying to get their number would be worth the price of admission
