Adjusting shift coupler

Chris(Jazzbass) was kind enough to help me install my Seine Systems gate shift kit. Like he says, I am now in "shifting heaven" compared to my setup before. The only thing that I noticed is that the shift coupler needs adjusting. I know that it involves doing something with the shift rod in the center tunnel. Does anyone know what tools do I need to adjust the shift coupler? Anyone done this before and know what I need to do exactly?

Pari:

There is a good write-up on how-to in the 101 projects book.

It's more like one good paragraph . I guess it's just that simple.

From 101
"The procedure for adjusting the shifter is simple. Reattach the shift coupler to the transmission, but keep the clamped end of the shifter rod very loose. With the transmission in first gear, place the shifter into the upper left hand corner of the shift pattern. Now, clamp down on the shift coupler. The shift assembly should be properly adjusted into position, and the shifter should cleanly lock into all gears including reverse. However, depending on transmissions, chassis, and linkages, this doesn't always work on the first try."

I know I need hex keys, but what clamps are they talking about?

I am in the exact bind with my shifter. I installed a short shift kit yesterday and can't get reverse. Hmm, I guess I have to take apart again.

The clamp is on the coupler and holds the coupler on the splines from the shift rod that goes to the shifter. You need 2 - 13mm wrenchs and a 6 mm allen head wrench.

Thanks Marc.

Hey Pari, keeping track of those receipts? How soon until you could have had a well-sorted 993? I bet not much longer. Bring two pay stubs to Hershey and they have on-site car lenders.

Come on Rick, you know there is no keeping track of receipts when you are on the slippery slope. Besides, I'm just getting started .
My solution from getting "empty wallet shock syndrome" is to destroy all traumatizing evidence by creating monthly bonfires ingniting credit card bills, insurance payments, and other proof of expenses. I guess I'm still in denial.
I know these are a few drops in the bucket, but they will be worth it once my SC's transformation is completed. At least thats the mantra I recite nightly to fall asleep.

What, you mean trade the SC in at Hershey? That's blasphemy.

Only Richard uses the "trade in" word. Think of Hershey as your chance to get ANOTHER Porsche

David,
I keep using you as the example of what to shoot for as far as number of Porsches owned. My wife is not amused.
