2005 997.1 Clutch Replacement

It looks like I'm going to need to do a clutch replacement after today's struggles at SP HPDE. Suggestions for other work that I should have done while this is being done?

Thanks for feedback

Brad

Lightweight flywheel? IMS bearing if it is replaceable on your engine?

Like Jeff said, usual suspects with .1 motors. BTW how many miles? That can have an impact on what might need R&R(ing)

Crank seal, IMS seal if its leaking, new flywheel bolts. IMS failure for 997.1 engines is less than 1% I've heard. However if you ask a company that sells the IMS bearing they'll likely tell you "it'll fail in 5 minutes from now, so replace it immediately". May want a new guide tube for the throw out bearing while you're at it.

29k miles. It's being used exclusively as a HPDE track car since I acquired it a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions

Still Trying to Figure it Out

Car is used exclusively for HPDE events.

Symptom: Car works fine for first 4 - 5 laps. After that & while coming down front straight in 5th gear, hard brake to prepare for end of straightaway; car is shifted into third gear and make turn into #1. Third gear engages but the clutch pedal does not return to normal position. Stays down towards floor. I have to pull clutch pedal back up with top of foot. Can then use clutch as normal through rest of track until hit front straight away. Everything starts over. Only difference in this turn is using fifth gear and moving from fifth straight to third (not over-revving)

Repairs/Attempt to Fix:

Slave Cylinder, Master Cylinder (lines all look good), Clutch, Pressure Plate, Flywheel, Crank Bearing all replaced. Multiple Power Flush/Bleeds attempted. (all done by experienced Porsche specialty shop)

At wits end on what to do next. Help!! Season is quickly disappearing and frustration already at high levels!

Thanks

tie clutch pedal to shoe.

Have always thought replacing the clutch slave cylinder line when replacing the slave cylinder was prudent. Lines sometimes fail internally. The line is cheap, too.
