'86 911 Coupe FS/Trade

1986 911 3.2 Carrera w/ 146,XXX original miles for sale or trade. Asking $29,000 OBO.

Well-optioned car in original, "driver" condition. Engine has never been rebuilt, and leak-down on #3 suggests it's probably time for a top-end at least. Car drives VERY well however, and I encourage anyone to come drive the car. Purchased in Dec. '12 and drove as a daily driver up until last June when the car developed a fuel leak which was a simple fitting/hose replacement.

* Very attractive, rare, and original Prussian Blue metallic w/ full leather special order gray/blue interior in good shape (some bolster wear and driver's fore/aft control not working). Perfect dash and newer Lloyd's mats protecting the original blue carpet. Have new headliner (blue) from PO that goes w/ the car
* Motor has never been rebuilt but a great driver w/ overall great mechanicals and original eqpt. still in place (cruise, pw/locks/seats/mirrors). Only used Brad Penn.
* Never smoked when run daily but oil thermostat drips onto the heat exch when hot.
* Stock motor except K&N w/ Vertex chip (don't have the OEM chip)
* A/C in tact, converted to R134a but PO cut the thermostat line and left the rest in tact (?!?)
* 16"x7's & 8's w/ new Continental Extreme Contact tires (<1k miles on tires)
* 915 w/ short-shift & Momo knob shifts very well. 3rd synchro chirps if you rush it.
* F/R spoilers; original whale tail in garage and goes w/ car. I'd prefer to keep the duck currently on the car. It was grafted onto the orig decklid by "Sonjay" in Florida. Great work.
* H4s w/ nozzle washers (OEM), fog lights, and sunroof all work fine.
* Tons of records from Day #1 (7/85 production, sold in Memphis 12/85); 5th owner.

Perfect opportunity for a DIY Dorky to get a very decent car and next project.

Thanks,
John

John, curious where the leak is...is it in the tunnel someplace?

YankeeHatah 04-04-2016 02:33 PM

Leak

Tito:

The leak is directly above the skid plate, where two lines attach to the tank. Last spring I had a line in the engine compartment replaced that was leaking.

I will try to take and upload a picture later this week.
Thanks,
John

All along, I wanted a galvanized coupe body on which to build a back-dated long-hood 911. For a while, the "smile" grew on me, but now I have decided that I really want a back-dated long-hood 3.2 Carrera. Frankly, this car is just potentially too nice, and rare, to cut and modify like that. And since I also want either an Irish green or silver car, painting this one would add another level of "criminal" to an otherwise great, stock car.

If you have a good candidate or know of one, I'm ready to talk trade.
Thanks,
John

Fuel leak is fixed and the car is back on the road. Runs and shifts very well. Easy restoration for a purist as OEM whaletail included w/ sale, or, drive as-is and restore as you go. $32k and/or cash plus trade for similar 3.2 or SC w/ 3.2 motor.

Thanks,
John

Sale fell through, so car is available again; asking $29,000 OBO in hopes of finding local buyer.

Had to laugh at "This is a project . if you don't have money please don't waste my time .thanks

$30,000.00 OBO" for that price he will probably have lots of time on his hands before that sells at that price. Would be interested if 1: steel fenders and 1/4s and a more reasonable price. I gotz the drive train and interior, just need the chassis.
