Membership?

Just curious,

How many members have joined since the startup? Knowing there are 2200+/- Potomac PCA members I was wondering. :)

Thanks,

Jason

Jason,

We have 147 registered users since Dec 11, 2002. This information is displayed on the bottom of the main page.

I didn't know there were that many Potomac PCA members. Imagine 2000 P-cars on a Fun Run  It does explain though why DE's are so difficult to get into.

Thanks Charlie.

I should have done a better job searching the site.

2000 member, but like many clubs only around 10% are active.

The Green run group saw applications from around 80 members this year, which is tough considering that track limits are generally in the 20s for Green. The good news is that many of this year's green students are already in blue, so the space opens up below. I know.......some consolation THAT is.

The DE groups and limits brings up an important question...

How does our region determine what run group we're placed in? I've never run with PCA, but have been out at Summit Point many times with NASA and the Audi club. I run in their advanced groups (signed off, unless I specifically request an instructor) and wouldn't want to be dumped back into the novice group. Of course, I'd want an instructor at any new track to help me learn the line...

Josh,
Your application for Potomac DE includes a section for track experience - number of track days and current run group with other clubs. Your experience will be used to determine the appropriate run group. While I doubt you would be assigned to Green, you may have an initial run group assignment that will allow an evaluation instructor to ride with you for an assessment.

The new advancement system is much improved. An evaluation instructor [special breed] can move you to a higher run group immediately.

Great. Thanks for the info. I'll have to get in the lottery next year.

Sign up as soon as reg opens. We are looking at other methods that might help people to get in events. We are dealing with far more intrest than we have room. Can't add track days and can't add more cars to run groups but there might be things that we can do to get more folks to the track and enlightened to the true Porsche experence.

HINT: No lottery next season.
You did not hear it here, OK?
