For me it's not about the cost of the ticket, but the cost of losing my license. Points accrue quite fast and losing your license would suck big time.

BTW I got one of my tickets on 360 heading towards VIR. Pretty much the same as you. I really wished I would have fought the ticket to at least 2 points. After that incident I ordered back a V1 and it has saved me numerous times. Especially heading to the track. Invest in a V1 while you're at it.

Is it worth fighting...hells yeah! I have gotten out of several tickets by just appearing. Once the Trooper never showed and that is an automatic dismissal. The other time, the judge asked me what I did (told him military). I asked the judge if I could make a statement and he said ok. I just said that I apologized for speeding and understood that I not only jeopardized my safety, but also the safety of those around me (which in my case was a farce cause I was the only one on that stretch of 95 at 3 in the morning). The judge thanked me for my statement and said, in light of your understanding and admition I am dropping the ticket administratively, however, if I was caught speeding again within 6 months then the ticket would come back. So, is it worth it...IMHO..yes!!!!!

TD, I'm glad it worked out to your satisfaction.
Cheers,

Damn, I wish I had done the same. I sucked it up and paid, plus I was late so it wound up costing me about $170. I definitley would have paid $250 to get off. Did you do it over the phone? How did he get you off?

I just had to take a $40 on-line driver's ed course. I didn't have to show up to the hearing. BTW, I have a very, very clean record: 0 tickets.

My wife was issued a "Failure to obey traffic sign" in Prince William county back in 1998.
We were heading to NY in a rental Dodge Neon on St Patricks Day night and I don't know how fast we were going but cop said we were a bit over 90

Cop threatened to haul my wife to jail (I was planning on bailing her out on the way back home:))

Then he spotted our daughter, who was two at the time, waving and smiling in the backseat and this caused the officer to have a change of heart and mentioned to her that the speed limits are lower in MD then NC.

Glad I was not the one driving...
