Do we have a route yet? Can't you tell I'm lookiong forward to the first fun run of the season?

Scott the only way I will be way ahead of your car is if I leave 2hours early. Although you will need gas at 3 times my rate. Being slow has it's advantages! :)

I don't know that area at all. I may take a trip out there this weekend to at least find an easy AM meeting place. I assume everyone here will be taking 66 West to 81 North to get there.

Anyone familiar with that area? Can you at least propose a few good driving roads? Give me a few good roads in that area, and I'm willing to drive out there and come up with a fun route to stitch it all together...

My favorite (Tight) road is out there. If you have the kahonas. Go thru Pettersburg on the way to Senaca Rocks. A few miles out of town you'll see a bridge crossing the North Fork. (Smoke Hole Road) This road was gravel untill last spring so the new pavement is perfect.

It goes over the mountain and ends at a road that follows "The South Fork" one of the best white water spots in the area. There is a general store at the corner. Following the road up the river there are dozens of spots to stop and have lunch and watch what comes down. Depending on timing (Trout Season) there are guys in the river trying to catch the big one!

If you want, I have a map quest page saved at work that I could pass on.
I promise, the twisties on that road are worth the trip!

Winchester Drive

Hi,

I think that 55 might be our best bet, lots of twisties, straights and beautiful scenery. Not as many state boys on the road either. Petersburg might be quite a distance to do in one day for those of you who live in Northern Va. I am not familiar with the best spots on 55, are we meeting somewhere for breakfast?

Winchester Drive

Actually the trip to Petersburg is only an hour or so from Winchester, did the mapquest. I am familiar with that road, it is pretty awesome. Shouldn't see many cops on those roads either, at least until we get to Petersburg. I am up for this run!!!

Did we decide on the 18th or the 19th? I'm just trying to get a scedule. Beth will be in Philly on the 18th so I vote for the 19th if I can

Sunday the 19th

Rick V 03-02-2006 08:53 PM

Hard to believe after 20 years I still want to do things with her!
