How do you know and why glad?

IMO any track layout that does not have the climbing esses is wrong. Pure wrong. The rest of the track exists simply as a return loop for the climbing esses.

Ha, I dunno -- I really enjoy the Roller Coaster + Hog Pen complex. The compressions there are massive fun.

One time you didn't like it.

Very cool -- glad to see other groups do run the other options. Agree with somcdroc's observation that it offers us another nearby way to practice our "learn new track" skills...something that everyone can afford to hone. Would be fun to get a group of us together and attend one of these.

A small outfit named Asphalt Ventures (a spin-off of the Tar Heel Sports Car Club) is developing their schedule for next year and it looks like this:
March 1-2 ... VIR Patriot Course (2 days)
May (TBD) ... Atlanta Motorsports Park (2 days)
November (TBD) ... VIR Patriot Course (1 day*)
November (TBD) ... VIR Grand Course (1 day*)
* this would be a two day event, probably a Sunday/Monday or Monday/Tuesday.
I recently did their one day event on the VIR Patriot (CCW direction) and it was well organized, a very small group, and fun. There were two FATT instructors participating and one was my instructor. I wouldn't do the Patriot again unless it was coupled with a second day on the Grand or South as they include much of the Patriot's parts and you could build on the experience on those longer courses.
