Vu,

I was also told the same as you by my State Farm insurance agent. There is no limit to the amount of miles so long as the car is not used for primary transportation (ie. daily driver). I was also told they consider calssic car owners to be 'low risk' customers. I was told that the coverage did NOT include track or racing coverage.

Forgive me for jumping in late, but I am in the exact situation as most of you. I just picked up my car this past weekend and got insurance for "antique" cars from State Farm. My agreed value at the moment is $20k, but they NEED an appraisal from a 3rd party before they can actually insure my car for that much. At the moment, classic car insurance states that the car can only be used for parades, car shows, club events, etc. and an occasional driver on the weekends. Miles are limited to about 2500/yr. I plan to change it so I can have more flexibility driving the car on the weekdays to work. Just be careful and don't assume that everything your agent tells you is true. BTW, does anyone know a person in the Potomac PCA that can do an appraisal for my car? Thanks.

Ask your agent to recommend a company that they will accept.
I'd be real careful about trying to "adjust" the mileage limit to give you the opportunity to drive back and forth to work as policies almost always exclude that. At the same time you "may" have to use that car to have it inspected, go to a shop to show them the exact part you need, to get an estimate of stated value, the list is endless (just not back and forth to work). Stay something close to the mileage limit.
Welcome to the world of don't ask, don't tell. :D
