thanks. looks like they are steps away from the spring hills metro stop, i guess i'll make a trip out there afterwork today....

good take on the compression, leak-down tests.... i'll definitely ask for that.

update:

definitely a salesman issue and not a policy issue.
decided to call back and got another sales who absolutely agreed to let intersport do a ppi, in fact, he said that he would drop off the vehicle for me in the morning so i don't have to make the trek out to tysons. will update tomorrow after the ppi.

You might just check Intersport's inventory. Omar usually has a better selection of used 911's than HBL and a better price (but they both are in the business to make money). I'd trust what Omar and Charlie have to say more than HBL.

OK here goes...I am the Facilities Manager for Penske Automotive Tysons of which Porsche of Tysons is a part of. I have nothing to do with the cars. I keep the lights on, kick an HVAC unit once in a while to keep the place cool or warm, take long lunches, yell at people that flick cigg butts on my prop and generaly just fix busted stuff.

I tend to stay out of HBL Porsche, Audi, MB stuff but something on this one was not ringing true. I checked with the Porsche general manager about PPIs.

The official word. PPIs are welcome. Porsche of Tysons will even drive the car to the other shop for you if it is local and in fact Porsche of Tysons has taken 2 cars to Intersport this week. Porsche of Tysons has no relationship with any other shop. Feel free to pick the shop you like.

My own personal blather. The above is and has been how it has been for as long as I remember. (I have shuttled a few porters back from shops when I was in the area at the time) It sounds like there was a mistake made by the first sales guy. (I don’t know who, I did not ask, Porsche has a few new sales guys on staff)
The last thing a New car dealer wants to do is sell a dud or hide something. Cars don’t go away and bad ones cost far more than they are worth to a dealer. A dealer has to maintain a Brand Image that others might not be as worried about. This is why a lot of trade in cars are wholesaled to independent dealers rather than resold by the dealership.

thanks for your input. like i said, it was a salesman issue and not a policy issue.

by the way, i ended up making a deal for the 05 cayenne turbo tonight. jamie was easy to work with but the finance guy, not so much. i wanted a nice clean round number on the final figure and the sales agreed, but the finance guy still included the $1.26 on my bill... when i asked about that he gave me this whole 'do you know how long it will take to redo the numbers to go over cents.' right. 1.26 will not kill the deal, but it certainly sours impressions.

also got a 3yr 36kmi powertrain warranty....

picking up the car next week~

Congrats on the new car. But I'll bite here:

Why was a round number important? A buck 26 seems like a pretty trivial thing to be annoyed about.

Yeah, who gives a sh1t if you like the car!! Congrats!

BlackTalon 10-11-2014 12:01 AM

Hey. he's a Porsche owner now -- he has the right to get PO'd about a buck twenty-six (plus there a big shoes to fill as a Porsche owner)

Congrats on the car, er, uh, SUV. We won't be seeing you at the track (unless you got it to be your tow vehicle), but there are lots of other PCA things to do.

.

Point of trivia. When first designed, the Metrorail Spring Hill Kiss-n-Ride was going to be ON the new HBL Porsche/Audi lot. Not near it. On it. Penske faced a forced move and rebuild. Penske was a tenant, not landowner so all the compensation would go to the landlord. Good lawyering and politics got the station moved up the street.

Did you make him give you a $1.26 out of his pocket? :p

Actually, Lord & Taylor sued the developer across the street from the station claiming that its sign was not visible because of the Metro stop and construction.
