Yeah, I talked to Walt about the PDK at length. Pretty much convinced him it is a piece of crap and really no more than a handicap to any racecar. ;)
All kidding aside the downside to the PDK is that you cannot defeat the PSM. W/O PDK you can disable the PSM completely. Kind of a pain in the butt. I asked him to make the Cayman R related changes for GTB1 in the mid year rules. The SPB related stuff was all logical clarifications. It is a real stretch for the cayman to be ready for the Potomac race but I am shooting for it. -P |
Mid-year rules are out! Cayman Rs with PDK are allowed the advantage for 2013, but will probably be given a compensatory higher weight for 2014.
Paul - I had heard of someone disconnecting their yaw sensor to basically turn off PSM. If you cut into the wire somewhere very hidden and applied a (also hidden) switch, it would be cheating... |
Yes you can put a switch on the ground cable for the yaw sensor which defeats the PSM and that is legal. But on the PDK cars if you disconnect the yaw sensor you loose the auto downshift capabilities w/ rev match.
So, if you want the PDK Sport+ magic you need PSM. Quote:
