Brian Hair was driving his 325 on OLD and bald tires.
I was in my usual M3. I had a rear main seal leak and my car would run the outlap to about T9 on the hot lap before oil would start soaking the clutch. The time I ran was my best ever! I also got Wally (TTS Vette) to give me a nice draft. I lined up right behind him and was no more than a couple inches from him at the start. I even got on the gas earlier than he did so I nearly bump drafted him down the main straight, lol! I think that was prolly the key to my 120.8 with slipping clutch. I had a draft the entire way around the track. |
Yeah, we should all get such partners during TT :D
Great time Eric, congrats. |

The M3 guys are the ones to beat . Not us 911 guys with old inferior equipment ;) |
There's more time to be had in all our cars (some of us more than others), except perhaps Wonger! Wow, great time!!

Thanks! Now if only I could go 150 was it? up the uphill esses...
Scott, I know a couple of other guys who may be building for GTS2 next year. Should be fun. |

2) Speed on the esses doesn't count if you keep your front wheels completely straight and just drive up the grass... :D |

When I got over-tired at VIR in September (hour-long DE session), I went in to the esses too fast so just drove mostly across the grass on the first left-hand turn. I kept my right wheels barely on the gaiter and was surprised at how smooth it actually was, even in a 911 (I've heard this is more stable in a BMW for whatever reason). Fast, too. Then I slowed down, pitted, and came home because it was my second mistake in less than a lap -- and I felt lucky that I didn't mess up worse.
