It's a great track to sling the car around and as Andy/Todd said hone your car control skills, it's just a little too harsh on the car and tires. I wouldn't want to go there more than once a year.

I voted "love it & want more," simply because I was lapping Turbo S last time I was there, and it never hurts to have more track event choices.
With that said, the way I feel about SC is the same way I feel about ski resorts around here. It's not the best, but it sure is close. I can come home after each day to take care of my daughter and build up brownie points, so I can keep doing DEs. |

Plus the speed (relatively slower than SP) makes for less "spectacular" offs. I kind of just slid off sideways once and just kept going forward, back on in several yards. BTW What is an Etude):? |

I like it much more than SP main actually.

I love it. It is a thinking drivers track and you can't hide behind a wallet or motor. A wallet and motor help but not like they do on most other tracks. Phone it in and you will get a driver in your mirrors and pressing you in the corners. This track exposes "Drovers" like little kids flipping over rocks next to a creek.
TD is right the SC is a great learning track IMO. what you learn on the SC in order to control and use surface camber and conected turns will make you a better driver on other tracks. I think you learn more in a day on the SC than a 3 day on Summit main. It is a hard track to instruct on but is not as hard to teach as I first thought before I ever drove it. The removal of pit straight messed up one of the better sections as before you would come out of the 180 deg turn and have a good run to the set leading on to pit straight comming out of pit straight you had enough track to have to drive the cave esses. now it is all a throw down and the corner that replaced this section is a crappy lumpy off camber or flat turn and you can't carry enough energy through to make the cave esses work. |
I personally love it.. its a drivers track, But I also agree 2x per year is enough. I like variety. I just ran Barber in Feb and it is very similar to Shen in my opinion, but a little better design wise, but 100x better in "niceness" of course... but both are tight and technical.
For those that like/love it, we've still got Advanced and Instructor spots available for our May 19th-20th Event! http://dorkiphus.net/porsche/showthread.php?t=12480 |
Funny, I like the Jefferson Circuit (for no more than a 20 minute session at most), but I dislike the Shenandoah. I would love to drive it in a kart however. A track should be equally appealing to a low or high horsepower car. I never got out of third in my C2. Granted, in the Jefferson I don't come out of third, but it's only a training track and doesn't pretend to be anything else. I have to say that I'm with Mark. With the choices of tracks with have and the increasingly limited weekends available, I would prefer another track. To each his own. If booking the Shenandoah helps keep Summit Point in business, then best of luck and I hope every weekend is filled with happy drivers.

I heard over the weekend that they were going to add like a mile to the Jefferson Circuit. Anyone heard similar or know more details?

Would never do it more than once a year even if its " free". Karrousel is a waste of time and wear&tear. Not much fun to instruct on, but better than I expected initially. Car is ideal 914/6 with 3.2 but after a few laps just don't get a nice flow, a jumble of interesting corners and great training but just don't flow for me.
As far as the Jefferson "upgrade" great, but repave the original S.P. first for crying out loud Dirk |
