Mihnea,
Nice job done amazingly quickly. Rob |
DIY M96 rebuild in 6 weeks flat. Impressive stuff, nice work!

Thanks guys! And here are the final camshaft deviations.
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps63479db4.png As I understand these are factory-like values or better. I got to drive the car a few miles tonight and I have to say that the engine is transformed! The smoothness is incredible. It has more low end torque and more top end life. All the work was definitely worth it. Because I opted to retain some major components that seemed to be in good shape, the price tag came in at just under $2k, which is extremely cheap for an M96 rebuild. I'm very happy. A big thank you to my brother, Ion (fcotanis), for all his help and my wife for not divorcing me while I used our kitchen as a workshop and disappeared to the garage for the past 6 weeks. |

That's genuinely impressive! Fantastic job; you are definitely worthy of such a good end result.

Awesome, guys! Too bad you didn't have a dyno before/after so you could measure the actual power gain.
And Mihnea, be honest, cuz we all know what this project REALLY was - a trial run for your preemptive track car rebuild!! :p |
