My SC is in pretty good shape, I just finished putting in 22/30 TB's, Sways, revalved Bilsteins. The car is a garage queen as I dont have the time to do DE's, but I am running out of projects so I figured another money pit would keep me "car poor" versus "bar poor". I also agree about the early turbos, not much refinement just pure fun.

Now that is an understatement.
If you are fiending for the HP and boost, then get the turbo. However if you are looking for something to drive around the street only(maybe daily driver?), then you should consider a 993. Are you looking to track the second p-car if you get it?

I am going to try and do a couple DE's in the SC, the last time I went down this slippery slope I ended up with a GT-2 Z car in the garage and no cash in the bank so I am trying to keep a grasp on reality as I readily admit to having car "issues". Anybody know if there is a autoaholic anonymous, hi I am Thom and I have a problem. :D

Thom, the Potomac chapter meets about once a month at Summit Point from March thru October to discuss their "issues".
Personally, I think you've lost your grip on reality if you think getting rid of your Z car and are considering buying a 79 Turbo because it will be cheaper. In your case I think you'd find being "bar poor" would be cheaper.

Believe it or not, I remember the guy you're talking about (I've been around longer than you think). He was quite a driver...

I remember one time (at a non-PCA event, I think) he went horribly off-course and skidded over the cable for the timing equipment. It took more than duct-tape to fix the cable. I had quite a laugh.

I only saw his SC before the supercharger...when he had an "E-RAM". My '72 surprised him and pulled away from him on the highway. I think that was one of the things that lead to the supercharger. Real nice guy, though...lots of enthusiasm for his cars.

Actually I went cold turkey a little over 12 years, sold the Z-Car & a GT-3 510 so I could pay alimony (something about mixed priorities). I fell off 4 years ago and bought a Lotus Cortina to restore, moved to a 944 a couple years ago and then quickly to the SC. My current wife is fairly tolerant so I figure I will ease into DE's, but then again I keep finding myself cruising the ads for FF or better yet a F-Atlantic. I think I better go find a 12 step meeting now :?
