Thanks for the feedback. Keep it comin'!

Yes, 944s are less expensive, but he is not looking to go down that path right now. Chris - I didn't realize some Carreras were going for that little right now. I agree on the oil cooler issue -- just say 'no' to trombones!

I think Chris got some kind of crazy, not to be repeated deal. :)

The 915 based Carreras have really taken a beating on price in recent years, and don't really command much of a premium over late model SCs. G50 Carrea, on the other hand, still enjoy quite a price premium based on the perception that they are "better". This debate is not as as cut-and-dry as one might think, as the word is that a fresh 915 feels about as good as a G50, with a slight edge to the 915 for being lighter and having a better feeling clutch. Unfortunately, most of us have the worn out tired versions of the 915, making the G50 look much better by comparison.

Hopefully, it goes without saying - no Targas! Unless he like body flex on the track, that is.

The funny thing about the deal I got on my car is that the guy I bought it off of only paid $6k for it. It was a trade in deal at CarMax.

I just found this on AutoTrader.com:

1986 911 Carrera Coupe

Its an 86 Carrera with 22/27 Tbars, F/R spoilers, 7 & 8" Fuchs, Bilstiens and an LSD. Mileage is a little high at 146k. Asking price is $14.9k, and the seller is "motivated". Its an OK deal as is, and a screaming deal with a couple grand knocked off. Put it this way - my Carrera cost me more to upgrade to similar specs, and I don't have a LSD.
