Kappa's are a good quality component speaker. I have alway shied away from showing my particular bias for audio hardware because everyone's ear is different, I always tell folks to buy the best quality (warranty, level of manufacture, service) for your budget, if you spend enough time with the stuff you will know what you need aurally when you upgrade...because you always upgrade. :D

Here is a site I sent to Bill Miller for ideas on installation options for a cab. The porn mullet is an interesting option...

Chris, Chris, Chris ....

Not enough audio? Loose the stereo and get a louder muffler.

I'm with Greg on this one. What's a stereo for, playing bagpipe music on the main straight at SP? Who would ever do that? :D

Jim you are so wrong, you don’t play that music on the strait you use it to warn the women, children, dogs & faint of heart that something baaad is coming

Chris,

You definitely want to hear them in person first, especially in the configuration/power set up you will intend to have down the road. What sounds good to me may not sound good to you.

Personally I think Infinity's are decent speakers, but their highs tend to be a bit tinny when played at high volumes. But then again with a good amp and head unit you can dial it in.

I fine tuned Charlie's system last year and I think it made a world of difference.

In short, get what you can, then I'll help you tune it.

Forget the speakers. Put on a nice flow thru exhaust system, crack your window and listen away. Put the speakers in the girley man car!!

Hi Chris,

I put these speakers in my Targa a couple months ago -- the originals were all rotted out like yours. I just disconnected the rear deck speakers.

Comments:
  • The midranges fit OK but I had to cut out the plastic cup thing
The tweeters fit pretty well with a little creativity with the mounting hardware
Sounded good but wouldn't get loud enough for top-off driving with my (new) Blaupunkt head unit so I added a small Sony amp under the seat
The tweets are pretty tweety! I turn down the treble a couple notches

I also got mine cheap off eBay. The head I got from Crutchfield. They are not really cheap but the service is very good.
