All I did, in addition to the O2 sensor, was change the plugs, dist cap/rotor, and air filter.

AND ... I would highly recommend fresh oil. Believe it or not ... my BMW would clean right up with your above mentioned ignition parts and a fresh oil change. BMW tech suggested I do it. Failed once ... changed oil ... passed.
