IMHO, if you really want to "race", AND you are budget-wary, I would seriously consider some form of Spec Miata racing. Even thought the Miata's may not be pulling stellar lap times, they are seriously quick in the corners. Where they lose some lap time is in lower speeds on the long straights. But big deal...anyone can put their right foot down for a couple of seconds. The thrill of being in the middle of a large bunch of cars going at roughly the same pace through corner after corner, is what I prescribe as real racing.

If you are concerned about cost at all, don't do B1. Tire cost alone is pretty eye-watering on the Pirelli DH. |

Banging a bunch of cheap tin cans against each other ain't racing. We all know his only attraction to Miatas, like everything else, is cheap. |
I agree with Tony, go with the side order of SSM if you want to race.

Spec3 is a growing class. :)

I've been trying to go spec 3 for a couple years, but stuff keeps happening. Shooting for 2020 possibly. They usually race 3 times a season at SP, which is why I pulled the plug last year. Other tracks are just too far for me, but Handlebar can get to them!

I know you said no 944s but this isn't really a 944....anymore. https://dorkiphus.net/porsche/showthread.php?t=39740

If you are leaning towards PCA vintage racing, you should buy the 71 911 I raced at Summit Point that belongs to Mr. Ashford. The car needs nothing. 2.4 Spec engine that pulled 199 RWHP on Behe's dyno. A brand new Fuel Safe fuel cell is being installed (or may be done already). Engine had only break in time only before I took it on the track. Everything on the car was fresh. Car is a solid podium car in VU class. I did it on The Boy's take off tires without using all of the car's capabilities.
He's owned the car since 1974. Solid car and and price depends on how much all of the extras he has that you would want. Three decklids, the original complete engine that's not in the car, 9 Magnesium Minilite wheels, and a bunch of other original parts for the car. If I could afford it, it would be in my garage already. It's a fantastic car. PM me if you'd like his number. |
Found this over the weekend. No affiliation. Interesting a dealership would have it.
