The countdown has begun :D

I'd like to caravan out there. I'm not running so I'll bring my camera stuff. Can someone help me with directions to the "north side of the toll plaza?" I have no idea where that is... thanks. I live in Arlington

Steve - head west on the Dulles Toll Road (RT 267) and make sure to stay in the local lanes (ie., avoid the airport lanes). After about 12 miles or so you'll pass the exit for RT 28 - just past that exit is the Greenway Toll Plaza. As soon as you roll through the toll plaza (s/b $1.25 I believe at that hour) make a hard right over to the shoulder and we'll be lined up there.

The standard route (ie., the quickest/most direct) to Summit Point is west on the Greenway to RT 7 and then West on RT 7 to Berryville. From our meeting point it should be about 50 minutes to the gate, give or take a few.

John - yes, I'm planning on coming home Sat night so the same meeting place and time applies to Sunday morning as well.

Look forward to seeing everyone bright and early that morning :D

Keep it legal on Rt7. The Man will be watching.... don't want anyone to receive a Kmart blue light special!

Doug E 03-04-2004 10:14 PM

Kurt - plenty of spots for The Man to hide ... particularly on that looooooooooooooooooooooooong stretch of 7 right around Purcelville / RT 287.

No need to worry though, I'm still breaking in my car after the rebuild and I can't go above 55

Yeah, ... in SECOND! I won't tell if you won't tell about that R & P swap  What was it again ... 9:31 or 10:31?

I'm in for the DE and the caravan out there. I NEVER speed on Rt. 7;). Doug and I had a very close call a few years back.

Yes, RL, I do seem to recall a few of those

If you're spectating only, what kind of accomodations will you find? A grandstand? Should I bring a nice lawn chair? Can I walk around the track while people are on it?

Trak Ratt 03-08-2004 07:12 AM

Yes, there are grandstands at most popular corners. Yes, you should bring a lawn chair. Yes, you can walk around the track while runs are in progress, but you will get a lot of exercise & miss a lot of the action. Facilities in the paddock area are “civilized” all others “portable”. Still a lot of fun if you haven’t been.

I'm tentatively planning on coming out for a couple of hours to support the gang. It will be fun seeing y'all in action again.
