Continue here with some cleaning.

Did I mention that this car was a mess ?

Cleaning time.

Front support cleaned up.

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-12-2.jpg

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-12-3.jpg

Cleaned and plated some hardware.

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-14.jpg

So now I got this 944 Turbo transmission at the right. The left one which came out of the 944 has a longer 5th gear. So I will swap them out.

To be continued.

Hell, I've got a perfectly good 944 sitting a garage that I can't even find the time to drive around. This thread will probably make we want to keep it.

Did a little work on the brakes.

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-07-01.jpg

The calipers looked pretty ugly.

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-07-02.jpg

I took them apart and cleaned it all up.

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-07-03.jpg

Here are they ready for assembly.

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-23-1.jpg

Assembled and ready to go in.

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-23-2.jpg

Rear end done.

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-23-3.jpg

Front end also in. The sway bar is not yet installed, and I wait with that for better access.

I'm going to assume you clocked the pistons in the calipers to the proper 20 degree angle?

rothaus 03-16-2018 10:18 AM

Good Point, yes, I did.

Thanks for asking.

I made some progress with my Hybrid project

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-21-01.jpg

Got the power plant ready to go in to test fit.

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-21-02.jpg

Coming down.

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-21-03.jpg

Looks like it's gonna fit.

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-21-04.jpg

It looks like it belongs there.

http://airboxer.com/944/2018-02-21-05.jpg

There is more space around than I expected. Wow. A lot more work to do.

This all seems very familiar...

What are you going to use for a brake booster? I had an ABS electric brake booster and it was the only thing I didn’t like about the swap. I feel like it was underboosting and the brakes felt wooden with no bite, and the pedal had no modulation.

Nice!
Amazing how relatively small a smallblock OHV engine is.

Would be tempted to make one fit in my S6 if it ever breaks (fingers crossed it doesn't)

I will get a hydroboost kit.
