Not what I did, and concur.

Some might think they got you to pay for something that is often part of SOP for a preowned warrenty. ;)

I'm not too concerned even if that was the case. When queried, similar warranties sold at Porsche of Annapolis and Tysons were quoted at over $4k. I did not check with Silver Spring. ;)

I think I might even have the quotes somewhere on email...

which is why i'm looking for a sales rep recommendation. from my research, intersport is a reputable shop and i'm willing to pay for the service, so i'm not sure why tyson's won't let me do it.

Give Omar a call at intersport, have the name of the sales rep and most likely it will get done or Omar will find you another car to your liking...he is good like that.

I agree with this. Though isn't Omar also in the business of selling used Porsches? Anyway, whoever at HBL drives the car to Intersport can walk back to work in three min.

Just talked to Omar, very nice guy but it seems like they don't have a relationship with tysons Porsche. Back to square one.

I thought the point of a PPI is that the inspecting shop not have a relationship to the seller. I feel your pain though. I ran into similar headaches with my GT3.

sukeiasa 10-08-2014 01:38 PM

true, to an extent...
but i think it's more important to find a shop with competence and integrity who won't risk their reputation for that relationship....

so... if anyone knows a good used sales rep at tysons's porsche who will let me take the car over to intersport (which is apparently within 10 mins?) for a ppi, please let me know.

Why waist time on another sales rep. in the same dealership, just call the sales manager and ask. It might be their policy...

Tell HBL you will let them do the ppi as long as you can inspect the car yourself when it is up on the lift to look at the suspension, brakes, etc., and they perform and document the results of compression and leak-down tests. And also you want to be present while a body shop person looks the car over for evidence of accident repair. That will basically just leave the electronics, which no ppi will do much for anyway.

And you could also try and hire a mechanic to go with you while HBL has the car up on the lift.
