Say what?

Very sorry to hear that, especially since it appears to have been entirely avoidable. Odd thing is that, just a few days ago, I was thinking about how risk at the track never can be reduced to zero since crazy unimagined things can happen, like a plane making a crash landing. Eerily weird ...

That was a crash, not a crash landing!!! Completely illegal, stupid and obviously deadly.

Very sad. Fortunately, no one on the ground was hurt--could have been much worse if he'd come down in the paddock.

For those who've heard of the upcoming more-specific codes...

ICD-9 code: Hit by crashing airplane
ICD-10 code: Injured while driving on race track, by crashing airplane, WWII vintage, single engine, doing acrobatics. Initial encounter.

About the last thing I expected to see on Dorki was ICD coding humor.

Seriously? You were thinking about being hit by a falling airplane in the context of track day risk?

I heard the identity of his passenger on the radio tonight. His 71-year-old mother!.

Mom: You're flying to low! You're scaring me! Take me down this instant!
Jon: Awww, Mom. I know what I'm doing. Oops!

Too soon?

I was musing about the topic in general, and that scenario came to mind as an example of something crazy but not impossible.
