a few that I had found when looking weren't in too bad of areas. I wasn't looking in Cherry Hill, North Ave., Pamlico or W. 25th areas. It would've been tiresome answering the questions of passerbys inquiring why "none of those nice cars are sitting on chrome" I could only attempt to explain unsprung weight so many times

I just noticed BMW NCC has an ongoing DIY program

While it is not a substitute for the joys of RE ownership; possibly there is enough interest to stand up a similar program... this was a surprise to me b/c I've yet to find a DC metro shop still supporting the DIY model (rumored to be insurance reasons).

Capt downshift ...

That's why my current garage is indoors with 2 door entry. It works for now but I'm ons the search for another larger place. Where have you been looking?

I haven't seen any worthy of a look in the past 3 months or so, previously I had seen a few with potential in the Hamilton area, there were 1 or 2 in Parkville last year, as well as Rt 1 just inside of 695 on the north side of the city, and in the Dundalk/Essex areas.

Ideally the rt. 100 corroder would be perfect as then parties from both the Baltimore and MD side of the DC suburbs could make use, but that location is new enough that anything would likely triple the cost of areas in and directly around Baltimore. Glen Burnie could also have potential.
