How can the drain immediately go downward from that opening if that electrical box is below it??? Something doesn't seem right.

It is very strange, but it has worked for over 20 years. Drain hole curves down and to the left almost immediately. I am guessing that the drain or outlet was installed after the house was built, it makes no sense. But, I thank you for pointing it out to me, I am not using that outlet and will have it covered. Solved problem of flexible hose by purchasing a short flexible hose to attached to wash drain hose, so I think all is well - at least i hope so.
