Hey Charlie, just for kicks, let's see if those Sway Away's I couldn't use will fit in your car.
Hey Richard, did you yank those sway-aways back off your car? If so, what a bummer.

The right ones are on there now.

Charlie, If we do that hookup, you might get streaming screaming from me. :)

Tony, Thanks for the tip. Conservative will be my watchword. This car has to get me back home. I figure any seat time at this point will be a good thing and, I hope, help get me ready for the Potomac sessions ahead.

Rick...those 29's did not work?? But they physically fit into the thbes and it looked like it buttoned up correctly. What was the deal....the splines, length, stiffness, mabye the G50 tranny? We can try them on my car if you like, but was thinking 28's would be the stiffest the targa and my bottom could take.

Bill, if you have the extra time, take I-66 to 29 south rather than I-95....the scenery and roads are worth the extra time. The good ol' boys may ask you 'is that the same car will smith drove in that movie?' or 'that thing is sporty, what is it?'...yes, got both comments....well on second thought, I-95 may be safer

Jim Richards 02-03-2003 03:19 PM

Bill, Hwy 29 is a nice route, much better than I-95. Richard and I drove down that way for the Western VA fun run this past summer. I forget the name of the place where we stopped to eat breakfast, but it was good. Maybe Richard remembers the place.

Rick Lee 02-03-2003 03:33 PM

Wasn't that place called "E-I-E-I-O"?

Charlie, the 29's fit fine. The problem was that we didn't mark things correctly nor compensate for the stiffer ride. So the car rides much higher and it has to be redone. Steve Timmins just sent me a link to a huge suspension job he did and in it he says you have to grind down the bushings so that the spring plates hang loosely. Obviously, we didn't do that either. Dulles shall take care of it from here. I just want the damn car back and to not have to do anymore work on it for a while.

BW911 02-03-2003 05:47 PM

Richard, I'm shocked to hear you swear off the DIY projects for now. Maybe Dulles will raise their hourly rate when they find out they have to fix our/your work.

Just kidding. I don't blame you a bit. Sorry to hear that suspension job didn't work out.

Charlie and Jim: I'm very, very familiar with Hwy 29. As an NC native, I've driven that route many, many times. Got ticketed on it twice, both times in a hot-rodded BMW 2002. The troopers used to be bad between here and Charlottesville; maybe that's changed now. The drive should be good in 911. I'm not sure exactly how to get to VIR, but I can find Danville.

Bill:

If you haven't already, go to the VIR homepage and read the turn by turn digest there. At least you will have some idea of what the turns look like before you hit the track.

Wish I could be there with you.

Charlie--

I'm doubtful. I think I'm going on a college recruiting visit with my son. But that might be the 14th. I'll let you know if I can make it.

Charlie Stylianos 02-04-2003 06:50 PM

no problem dan........if it comes out, its gotta go back in some time
