Holy Crap! 1/2 mile straight (granted, mostly uphill) to an 80-degree turn, with about 20 feet of run-off before the tire wall. If you lost your brakes, there is no hope (perhaps go off track right into the gravel trap BEFORE the turn).

What turn are you talking about? I'd try Main counter race, for a day it might be a lot of fun. You dont have to go balls out to learn something.

I really enjoy doing tracks backwards. Lots to be learned from them, assuming the safety is there.
