I'ved owned 3, 97 Tahoe, 2001 Yukon and current 05 Tahoe. No problems on my first two thru 120k miles. My o5 needed a trans at 55k and hubs at 80. I've done more towing with this one but it seems more brittle. Good luck, I don't know what I am going to get next with the new fuel stds coming.

Tahoe !

I had a 2002 Tahoe and had nothing but good luck.. (except when a deer that decided to take out the front, rad, trans cooler, which led to a trans failure two weeks later..)
Othewise.. 148 k when I traded it in on a 2010 YukonXL 2500. l was only hoping the new truck would hold up to the high standards of the Tahoe...
i towed a long open steel trailer with my cup car for on it for 8 years @ 12 events a year of so.
(SP,VIR,WG,MO)

Good ride and brakes lasted forever... but I might have just been easy on it... yea right!
ps..the Yukon XL 2500 is doing great also.

Had a 04 Yukon Denali... no real issues other than the dash having a mind of its own. It's a common issue w/ the stepper motors in them.

02 Suburban, 215K miles-alternator at 100K, rear differential at 180K.
08 Tahoe, 105K. Nothing replaced other than maintenance items.

Suburban was a tow vehicle from day one. Never towed with Tahoe...it's the wife's.

Resurrecting this thread, and my username. It's been a while since I've been on here...

I'm about to pick up an '03 Tahoe with 100K as a tow vehicle to pull an 18' open-deck steel Bri-Mar trailer. Cosmetically, the truck is a tad rough, but for the price I'll deal with a few scratches and a little peeling clearcoat.

I haven't owned a domestic vehicle in a very long time. I know it's due for fluid changes and a little TLC, and I'd like to knock that out quickly. For the stuff that I don't want to fix...anyone care to suggest a good independent shop in Gaithersburg/Rockville/Germantown that knows these trucks well? I know just about anyone can work on these, but you guys have always been the best for recommendations.
