So no takers on Ebay. Market must be really soft for fun cars or I'm over the market on price. I'm in the process of moving to CA and really don't want to hassle with shipping this car out there. So if there's a Dorki out there who wants a screaming deal on a nice S2, I'm entertaining offers this week.

Its both. No "free money" anymore.. no home equity lines.. no helocs.. no jobs for a few thousand more today.. tough sell all of a sudden. Good luck though. Not sure how much the hassle is, but in a strong market, I am sure the shipping cost of moving it west could be recovered. Plus, you would get to enjoy the car too ;)

Thats the plan at this point. If I don't get bites this week, I'll ship it out and hold onto it. Its a fun car:)

Looks like a nice car. But I've got enough '44s as it is.

I'm not sure its new enough for them, but here's some things to try just for grins:

1. Take the car to CarMax and have them appraise it for purchase. They have a wierd inventory system, and sometimes offer a nice price for a car they think they need in their inventory. If their offer is low, you walk away.

2. Intersport Performance, near Tysons Corner, deals in used cars. Maybe stop by and see if they think your car would fit into their inventory.

We're on our 2nd 944 S2, and we think they are great car for the money!!

I also think that it is going to be tough to sell "toys" for a while. There is a guy on RL that had dropped the price to 5K for what appears to be a very nice S2 and the car still has not sold. I would hang on to it if I were you.

Actually, I go by a P dealership near my house that has had a Porsche Certified 05 997 on thee lot for at least 3 month. The way I figure, those with money do not want a used P car and those who would be interested in a used one will not want to part with any money until the next boom.

Good luck.

In 3mo it will qualify as 'historic' in MD too. That could help the sale locally (no inspections!). Emissions in CA will be MUCH tougher depending on where you are moving.

All good points. If I have time, I'll run by Carmax but I'm guessing they'll be in the KBB range of $4K to $6K and for that I'd definitely keep it. The emissions thing in CA will be a PITA for sure. The car passed MD smog easily even with a cat bypass but I know they do visual inspections in CA so it just adds another little hassle that I'd rather avoid.
