I know Kurt M tracked down a loose connection on my car last Fall that wasn't apparant until he lightly tugged the wire and it fell right out of the crimped connector. That was a wire leading from alternator to starter, if I remember correctly. Roundabout way of say check all the wires/ connectors around starter and alternator (will require elevating car).

So....my friendly P-car mechanic is paying me a house call tomorrow. He says he's bringing a new "computer" for the car.
What else might I invite him to bring with him for the in-house surgery? New flywheel sensor? New AMP Junior Timer connectors? New fuel pump? New DME? (I already swapped out the relay) From previous posts, I gather that he should check all the connectors in the engine bay, the speed and the ref sensors, the connectors on the main FI parts - throttle body, etc. In addition, make sure: - Throttle position reads fine - AFM is fine - Speed sensor resistance is in range - Position sensor is in range - Cylinder Head Temp is in range (this is a likely culprit, BTW, esp if you still have the old 1 wire sensor) - test the sensors at the DME connector itself to make sure the entire circuit is functional. - Bad coil - test resistance. Am I forgetting anything? |
