Hey Peter, I don't know if you remember when we met this past year at one of the Starbucks gatherings but Ching was there with a white RS clone...blue Carrera script. I think he said it was a backdated mid-year with the 3.6 from Timmons. I see him once in awhile here at work with his car.

First, I would like to thank SMD for throwing out some bombs while I was away. Secondly, one cannot talk if they have a "working" project for 5+ years and the only resemblance to Porsche ownership is his wife's Boxster. Think of Homer Simpson and his hundreds of unfinished projects, the Intercounty Connector will be finished in 2010 before we get a glimpse of something that can move in his driveway.
With that being said, I have an 1975 RS clone that has been backdated. It has a Timmins 3.6 which I switched when I first bought the car to replace the 2.8L race motor. Reasons for swapping was mostly financial and practical. I wasn't after more speed, but to have something I could enjoy everyday with some occassional track weekends. I know I have met some of you guys before at some point at some of the Dorki/Rennlist meets including my work neighbor kirkelliott. I guess I'll have to pay a little more attention nowadays so SMD won't get out of hand. :) |
btw, your hose shop reccommendation near bwi is quite good. thanks.

Hahahaha. I sent Ching an email alerting him to this thread. I couldn't stand making this much fun of him publicly w/o retaliation;)
Ching, I've done as many track days in one of my porsches as you have in the last 2 years;) For those wondering, that would be exactly one weekend;( But, mine was at a far cooler venue... While I may have hundreds of concurrent projects, how long did it take you to replace your CV joint? (crickets chirping... (ans: about 6 months?)) If you worked on projects of my scale, the earth would be out of fossil fuels before something was driveable. In the same period of time, I've been working on the boxster, reassembled & remanufactured a 1950's lathe from boxes-of-parts, completely rebuilt the motorcycles forks (incl. racetech cartridge adapters and springs!), not to mention keeping the POS E30 racecar running. You got stuck because you couldn't measure the length of a bolt correctly. Whoohoo! I missed being able to participate in all the non-touchy-feely Dorki posts recently, SMD |

I believe this is the car back when it had the 2.8 and the monty muffler. Had to reach back in my Dorki gathering pics from 2004:
