Not a task for the faint of heart from what I have heard. I guess there is one thing that a 912 is faster at than a 911, plug wire swap out. 3 min tops including the coil wire. You gets what you pays for in money or time I guess. ;)

What happened to the one wire end?

Some photos. Almost done, but I ran out of bourbon last night.

Looks like a colossal PITA.

Nice work. You mentioned distributors, are you replacing caps only, or changing the disti belt too?

Rick Lee 03-13-2007 10:08 AM

I got a rebuilt distributor from Mark Cohen and am mailing back my core. I got new caps and rotors from Jerry. Can't remember where I got the plug wires. I try to buy my parts years in advance so I forget about how much it all cost when it comes time to install.

Should I know Mark?

Rick Lee 03-13-2007 10:45 AM

He's in Atlanta and doesn't advertise nearly as much as he should. Can't remember how I found him, but I told the Rennlist 993 guys about him and he's getting busy now. $150 plus my core for a rebuilt dizzy. I'm willing to pay that to not have to DIY this on my kitchen table. Rebuild includes belt and bearings.

cmartin 03-13-2007 11:36 AM

New bearings or just belt? Pass on the info, please, I'll send him mine.
