this is where the rollbar comes into play. if you are completely immobile and things start caving in, w/o a bar/cage you're screwed. w/ normal belts you are still going to be 'moved around' inside the car regardless of what seat you use.

once you're seriously belted in though, you're just waiting for things to compress your ass... or rather, your spine.

Wouldn't you be more likely to submarine with the fixed back seats and stock belts in a front-end type encounter? In mine the stock belt doesn't snug on the lap due to the sides of the fixed-back seat. At least with stock seats the side bolsters are lower/non-existent allowing the lap belt to offer some protection.

short answer- yes.

i was operating under the assumption (and i should've mentioned it) that there is a possibility of mounting stock belts so they thread THROUGH the lap belt holes of a fixed-back seat when you buckle up. for others that don't have very tall side bolsters, conventional method works too.

again, this is all about 'likelihood of jazz having an encounter' as opposed to a hard 'n fast rule for everyone

For all those Nay Sayers. I am redeemed. Although, I actually almost didn't post it because I do know SO little :D

Gotcha - that would work.

Glad to hear it's something stupid like bad new plugs, but damn, shit like that makes simple things way more frustrating than they should be.

You go the SD cage right? If you're only installing the rear section, that's only two plates to weld which shouldn't be too bad of a job. Just make sure you push/pull that roll bar as far back towards the rear of the car as possible, so in the future, the front section of the cage goes in easily. I installed my cage solo, but it kicked the crap out of me for 2-3 days, and I was sore for a week. I am a big sissy though.

If you have any questions about the install, give me a call.

Chris,
You have just 3 days - I'd forget the roll bar, use your 3-points (what would be the problem with the shell, unless the 3-point belts were held away from you by the seat), and spend your time aligning the car and driving it to get the kinks out.

You know you can borrow my SRD seat(s) - and you know the drivers seat is not even currently attached for some reason... They work fine with stock belts. If you're concerned, run street tires - that will keep you slow when you start seeing red as Scott passes you!

HEY SCOTT--You going to be at VIR? I'll be back on RA-1s and we'll see who's faster. It even gives you all summer to practice. Girley-man! :XX
