Chris, were the plugs even wet? On step 14 you mentioned you heard them click, but did you verify anything came out?

Defective spark plugs (seen it happen before with new ones)??

Trak Ratt 07-10-2007 08:03 AM

Sure sounds like timing/spark? Did you remove the dizzy? Been awhile since I even thought about Carrera timing. Isn’t the dizzy bolted to the engine with no adjustment, but the shaft can still go in catty-wangus?

My vote to check first.
It almost looks like your running on 2.5 cylenders. Don't know how that's possible, but that's how it looks. Since they are on both sides of the engine 3 vs. 4/5 I don't think it's a fuel rail issue. Don't know how you cleaned the injectors, but I think you'd have to royally f them up (in fact a lot of them) to achieve that kinds of result. I have seen your work. Not likely.

I don't know much about engines and stuff, but I do know that Ryan knows less than me when it comes to that department. Don't listen to a suggestion Ryan makes.

I think DR and VASteve are on the right path... I've seen this happen before (shaft put back in off 180 degrees?)

William Miller 07-10-2007 09:42 AM

Ditto,
Also, did you use the dizzy to decide what valve to adjust because that could create more confusion. Ugh.

Could it be plug wires or plug wires in the wrong place?
I'm sure most of us have been here before.

Justin Fischer 07-10-2007 09:49 AM

Yeah, since cylinders 1 and 4 both point to Z1, I reinstalled the dizzy 180 degrees off once, car ran like shit. I cranked the engine to Z1 checked the valves to make sure I was cylinder 1 and the rotor was pointing the other way...:) oops

Car looks great Jazz, sorry you're gonna miss the DE.
