Was this car sold earlier, or did you have a similar car as well?

I had a Conda Green 70 T and a 73T that are now both sold. This red one was gonna be my driver but I got an auberguine coupe and wife says only one other than the daily driver 88. The red one is almost sold, had a buyer who pulled out of the deal (grrr) and now another has made a deposit and is due to look at it. Which brings up a question for all - if they give you $1000 deposit and don't buy the car, do you keep it or give it back? What do you have to do in the way of paperwork prior to accepting the deposit to make sure they know if they don't buy you take the deposit? I gave it back but my head is soft and I hate problems of that sort. Any/all advice welcome.
