At the last DE I attended, we had a bit of rain that wreaked havoc on those unfortunate fellas who painted their numbers on their windows with white shoe polish. The guys at the grid had some type of marker that worked really well and was impervious to the rain. Anyone know what these markers were, or have a different suggestion for waterproof and legible window marking?

I have run shoe polish numbers in the rain for many years....the trick is to put the numbers on the INSIDE of the glass. This can be tricky, however, and requires learning how to legibly write "backwards". It is convenient to have numbers containing lots of "0", "1", and "8" digits. As Dave said, liquid chalk (I've bought at Wal-Mart) can be easier to apply, easier to remove, and the colors are more visible than shoe polish in my experience.
