J and F Motors in Shirlington near the DMV on S. Four Mile Run Road (703) 671-7757
Alexandria Bavarian Service on Rt 1 Jeff Davis Hwy, Alexandria near Potomac Yards just south of Crystal City. (703) 836-2002
I've been to ABS and they treated our E36 328i well. Have heard that J&F does good work but I've never had any work done there.

You can buy a code reset tool that's compatible with many BMW's. With my old E30 there was a trick where you could ground out two pins in the reset terminal, turn the key and voila! I know Bavarian Autosport sells the tool. You can probably find it on eBay for $100, which is worth it, if it saves you having to pay someone to do it every few mos.

I have just started using J & F for my '99 E46, after the using dealer only. They have done good work for me for about 1/2 of the dealer cost. They will give you 5% off if you claim to be in BMWCCA, and they give 10% off the first visit. They have a shuttle to the Pentagon City Metro stop as well.
