Not sure I need it yet, but I'm suspecting one of my rear wheel bearings is failing. yesterday suddenly got intermittent bad smell, and I've had the intermittent groan for a while.

Anybody got a good setup for pulling those rear wheel bearings?

I think someone here has the real deal, but, if not, I put some pieces together to do it at home.
1st step is to get he big nut off. I bent my 1/2" breaker bar before I bought a decent impact wrench.

next, I recall using my big slide hammer to pull the hubs. They tend to get stuck pretty tight to the inner bearing race. Often the inner race comes out with the hub. Heat helps here along with a press and or slice it off with the dremmil tool.

Next you press the remainder of the bearing out, clean the bore, freeze the new bearing and pull it in.

If you want to take a trip out to my place I think I can set you up with whatever tools you don't have.

It's not as slick as the "official" tool, but it works!

I'll be arround tomarrow thru monday. Were going to put Steve's engine back in his car Saturday morning. We could use some early help if you can make it.
