Posted on Potomac P talk by Manny Alban.

Hi gang,
The Chesapeake Region is having a tour to Allsports. Once there, we're going to have a non-pca three hour kart fest. 90 minutes of sprint races and a then a 90 minute enduro of twelve teams, each team with five drivers. The date is Sunday, January 2nd. The track goes green at 2PM. Cost is $85/person and you must be 18 years old. Here's the link to the Chesapeake Region Webpage that has info on the tour as well as the non-pca kart event.

To even things up for the enduro,we plan on doing some weight/time penalities

Hmm. url the link did not come through. What do you think? Have some Dorki teams? $ 85 is cheap for the amount of driving.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I'm in. Let's hope the hangover factor is gone by then.. BTW, I've decided I want to be on Jim's team after seeing this:

27 24.16 JIM RICHARDS

This was on the list of top 50 lap times. You know what they say - "Those who can, do. Those who can't try to get on teams with those who can."

BillJ

My fastest times were in the mid-24's, but that same day the good drivers were in the 22's. BTW, my last outing was not inspiring.

Bill, count me in bud. I wonder if B.F.Murphy might find this fun. I'll stop by and see. I'll call Andy and Matt too. Call us the Tech Team.

\I will need some seat time. When is good for you?

BillJ

I just got some with a company outing (its fun spanking the hell out of your coworkers without trying all that hard), but I can always use some seat time. Name it and I am there. How about tonight? I am stopping by intersport right after work....

That's what I'm hoping for, really. I'd like to get Jim, Pari, Ted and myself on one team for this. Call ourselves Team Smackdown. We may not be the fastest, but you wouldn't know it by listening to us talk.

Remember to send your checks in ASAP. This event sold out last year. Since it's not a PCA event, just a few of us crazies, we have to break even.

I'm going to get the Chesapeake Region webmaster to print a list of the people signed up. Delaware is sending two teams and Chesapeake already has four. We had a great time last year. It's a good exercise while we wait for the driving season to begin (which for me is Sebring in February).

Dayam this sounds like fun. Do any of us 996 guys have the skills to drive well enough to exploit that full 9hp???

If I shave my arms and wear my workout gear I should be able to reduce my total coefficient of drag by at least 10%. Not a pretty picture, I know, but this is the level of my commitment to winning! :o

See Jim, it wasn't that hard to admiit the truth that you get smoked by the brown SC's at the track all the time.

Dam, Manny has been lurking and our plans are exposed!

It is not stacking the deck! It is a team truly composed of Tech team members. There just happen to be some very talented drivers on the Tech team. I for one am not one of the above as all I have going for me is being used to driving low HP REAC.

I am trying to put together a team, mostly from the PCA league. Anyone interested, let me know. Also, I would not worry about the fastest times posted, the track is nearly 2 seconds slower today. And, I doubt we will be driving the superkarts as I think there are only 5 of them available.

I hope you guys have a full report. I can't wait to see the outcome of the Verbal Kart Wars! Wish I was there, cause I'd be there.

In January, We will have a true Grand Prix outdoor Kart facility opening in Austin. It's setup like a country club with a sign-up fee and dues. Too rich for my budget. There is an arrive and drive but it is still expensive. I think I will have to give it a try though.

Hmm... It would be cheaper to build a Kart than my ST!

Fellow Dorki's...we are not assigned to specific teams yet. Let's decide on team name(s) and get assigned to them. The team sizes are 5 drivers, and it looks like we might be over that number. I think we'll need more than one team.

Kurt suggested some good names. Any problem with adopting one or more of these names?

BillJ
12-17-2004, 05:07 PM
Well I "think" "Team Tech" is set with the following ace drivers:

Kurt "Hollywood" Mickelwait
Bill "Sato" Jay
Andy "Eagle Eye" Clemens
Mat "Where is the other T" Pasqual
Eric "Weight Handicap" Stratton

Motley crew at best, slightly faster than the last place team at worst.
oh, and the last place team is team spanktalk

only 7 spots left. I got Charlie and Geoff's check yesterday. I'll be sending out an update on Friday.

I'll also be asking for your weights. We're thinking of breaking the group into five divisions with 12 karts in each division for the sprint races. For example, Division 1 may be 120-150lbs, Divison 2 would be 151-176lbs, etc. I have to get the weights first, though. Still working on a formula for the enduro. It'll be total team weight with the heaviest team getting the longest timed head start. Maybe something like for every 10lbs, one second. So if Team A is the lightest at 800lbs and Team B is the heaviest at 1000lbs, Team B would get a 20 second head start. Boy, suddenly the Club Racing rule book is getting to be easy reading :)

yeah we were working out scenarios the other day over at Kurts! That sounds like a pretty good formula, although i would increase the multiple a little if its an hour or hour and a half race. Maybe 2 seconds per 10 lbs or something like that. I really like the sprint race by weight concept!!
