I was looking through the track schedules for possible Fall dates and saw a new track called Calabogie mentioned several times. It is still being built, but the layout looks very interesting and challenging -- looks like a more technical version of VIR. Only about 3 hours further than VIR (at least from my house).

Pictures on the "progress" page are interesting... it looks like a few sections of the track will be extra tricky with blind crests, drops, turns all happening at once!

That would make a great back to back with The Glen. Road Trip!!

This track will be only 8 hours away?

Yahoo maps says it is 8:40 from McLean but probably a little more if you're towing. VIR is only about 4 hours, so it looks like this will be at least twice as far. The suggestion to go back to back with an event at the Glen makes a lot of sense.

This is a track that I referenced in previous posts; it is near Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Based on past experience, I would estimate this as about a 10 hour tow from Fairfax, including stops for food, nature, fuel and customs.
The track sounds great http://www.calabogiemotorsports.com/ - designed by Alan Wilson, 1 km longer than Le Circuit Mont Tremblant, substantial elevation change and 20 turns. All RSR events for this season have been cancelled. Given the optimistic schedule dates provided by developers, I don't plan to incorporate it into the Road Trip itinerary until 2006. But then, just think: the Canadian trifecta of Mosport, Calabogie and Tremblant! Better take at least two sets of tires!
