I'm in the process of putting the '70 911 back together and before I install the engine I wanted to try and identify the issue where the RPM gradually increases once warmed up. Things are pointing to the WUR or a vacuum leak somewhere and wondered if anyone had tried a smoker or some other solution for tracking them down. Any advice appreciated!

I fought with some vacuum leak issues in our E36 two summers ago and bought this smoke machine which immediately found the problem. I regret not buying it sooner.

It's more expensive than others (I'm not sure if it had extra parts or not) and it doesn't have the smoke oil which isn't that expensive. I'm happy to have bought it and, if nothing else, I think smoke machines are worthwhile tools for anybody with an old car. :)

I have the same smoke machine as @BeerBurner, and it worked quite nicely.
You are welcome to borrow it, if you feel like driving out to Silver Spring one day.

You can DIY or get one similar this on ebay for cheap. The nicer units are, nicer.

I thought the best smoke machine for air-cooled 911s is Charlie Murphy :?
