Airbag Warning Light with Cayman S Stock Seat Swap Question

I am swapping out the stock seat on 06 Cayman S with 996 GT3 Club Sport seats. I believe disconnecting the seat harness from the stock seat will trigger the airbag warning light.
Can I use Durametric tool to turn off the airbag warning light or is there another way to keep the warning light off?

Swapping seats with the ignition off did not trigger this warning for me. When a mechanic removed the seat with the key on, the warning was triggered.

I know disconnecting the battery before removing the seat does not trigger the warning. I had not realized that the warning light does not come on when you start the car since there is nothing on the GT3 seat for reconnecting the stock seat airbag harness.
If I understand you correctly Barry, the light stays off if no power during removal. Is that correct?
BTW, I am also installing a roll bar. All I can say is I am too old, fat, and inflexible for this😩

That was my experience on my 2012 Cayman R.

I used to swap stock seats for track seats in our 997. The airbag fault was on with the track seats and when I reinstalled the stock seats. I cleared the airbag fault once the stock seats were back in using the Durametric.

Yes, you use the durametric to turn off the warning lights. Make sure you get all the seat related airbags switched off.
