New thread.
I have a high degree of confidence that the tires on my dad's 930 are the p zeros I bought in 2017 when I got some Maxilite repop fuchs. So, I think it is probably wise to replace those before I transport the car to here.
Since the tires will be on the car for a long time again, I was hoping people might be able to give me some guidance since the same limited tire selection fits the fuchs on all your own air cooled cars. I found all these options on Tire Rack.
Bridgestone Potenza Sport - $700 - I am inclined to go with these due to the price. I am reading they may be a little louder than the p zeros.
Pirelli P Zero Rosso (Collezione) - $1300 - These are on the car now. I am not sure its worth the $600 to buy these given the type of driving I plan to do.
Yokohama ADVAN A052 - $1100 - these look to be a more performance oriented tire getting closer to an R compound, so I am inclined to not get these.
Michelin SX MXX3 - $1500 - same as the Yokohamas above re: performance and basically an R compound tire.
Yokohama A-008P - $1100 - same comment as the Yokohama and Michelin above.
Toyo Proxes R888R - $760 - I have used these in the past, but as an R compound tire, not sure I would want this. And probably not all that great in the rain.
Pirelli Cinturato P7 (Collezione) - $1350 - These also seem like they are closer to an R compound tire. So I am also not inclined to get these either.
In summary, I am thinking the Bridgestone Potenza Sport might be the best option. This whole project is going to be expensive and if it isn't worth the 6 hundo to get the P Zeros, I am not seeing the value.
Thoughts, jeers, etc... encouraged.
If you've used Radial Tire in the past, talk with Paul (he's there Tues-Wed-Thurs now and sometimes on Friday). He's great at giving good advice and knows the cars and the tires. Then go to him for your next set of tires (not more expensive than Tire Rack) and he'll flip tires on the rim for you if they wear on one edge (usually track use) for "free" - you need to tip his guys.

What’s the rush? Bridgestones or Toyo is my vote.

I am hot on this now and would rather get it done before I bring the car up here.
I have now learned that the Michelin was specially designed for these cars. https://www.michelinman.com/classic/tires/michelin-pilot-sx-mxx3
Mom confirmed tonight that the tires on there are the same p zeros I bought in 2017.

In that case sport cups or bust. Don’t settle.
Save money and get the Bridgestone Potenza Sport. I put these on my 930 targa. It's not like your going to drive the car hard enough to notice the difference between any of these tires.

Driving a 930 and worried about noise?? Put a louder exhaust on it and tyre noise won't be a thing!!

...and if you want a louder one, I know a guy that has at least 2 spare loud mufflers for a 930 ;)

Appreciate all the advice and the jeering. Mostly the jeering to be honest.
I think I will get the Bridgestone tires. That'll be easy and I can coordinate install of those when I have the balance of the work done before I transport the car.
Also got a quote for a new garage door for my one car 1935 era garage today. Much cheaper than I anticipated, so that is good. What is on there now looks like total dog shit. Not sure how easy it is going to be to get the 930 into and out of the small garage, but I am skinny AF now from all the cycling and running so I should be able to handle those gymnastics.
Overall, dad would be pleased with how this is trending. I appreciate the advice.

I think the car has a billy boat exhaust system. The cat collapsed on me once at Sebring and the car wasn't making boost. That was suboptimal for sure. The result of that was a new exhaust system. I can't remember how loud it is to be honest.
I am more looking forward to the ridiculous collection of CDs in the CD changer. Its actually a CD changer and head unit I had in a 94 escort I wrecked with my brother because some lady pulled in front of us near the fire station on 580 in Clearwater. Very lucky we did not get hurt. Dad took that Alpine system and put it in the 930. The CDs in there are 100% polka music and John Denver. Hilarious.
If you're still flexible regarding your new garage door, we were very happy with Crews Door in Manassas. They were top rated in Washington Checkbook and managed to raise the door about 8" (not a "pro" door, either) which our 2 other estimates could not match. With a <9' ceiling and a 48" lift, those extra inches were critical.

Thanks for the additional reference, but I think I am going to go ahead with the outfit I already have. Otherwise, I am going to run short on timing. I got that reference from a friend that does a lot of real estate deals here in Alexandria/Arlington and its cheap - $16 hundo for a pre-finished mid-grade clopay manual door with a lock and removal of old door.
As dad would have said "such a deal!"

So, I was able to put eyes on the car last Friday. Given the circumstances and timing, I was unable to drive it. The tires are the p-zeros with manufacturing codes of 2016 - fronts late year and rear early year. I am going to go ahead with the Bridgestone tires to save a little money.
I am targeting late April / early may to have it transported. I am spending a little extra money and having it transported in a single trailer. I found that group through my BIL in Florida.
The last part of this part part of all this for me to come up with a fair market value for papering the estate assets. So I will do that. The estate lawyer we found in Clearwater is a Porsche guy.
I appreciate all the help here for sure. And if any of you dorks are interested in seeing it / driving it once I get it up here, I would for sure be interested in meeting up.

If you drive it up Quaker Lane on a weekend feel free to stop in. You should see my white Carrera in the carport.

I always wondered whose 911 that was when I drove to home depot for the 10,001 time on a Saturday.
It would be nice to connect with some Porsche people. I don't really know anybody, other than people around me that have newer models without having any sort of appreciation for the history.

You are referring to the one on jack stands for the last ten years

Nope. Mine was on a scissor lift. Jack stands are for peasants.

More recently a black Volvo XC90 or a Grey/Black top electric cooper. No Florida plates - been here like 15+ years now. Something like this....

My wife was pleased to see your caron the ground recently actually. Do let me know if you still have the scissor lift and no longer need it. When my season is over around October/November of this year, I am going to make a run at getting the 44 going again.

Nice!
Well, I may have you beat here. I have a single slot driveway, so my current plan is to put the 951 on the driveway in front of the garage and move it out of the way when I want to get the 911 out of the garage using quick jacks. I bought those on Sunday.
Dad would not have wanted me to give up on that car, and life just got in the way. Its all put back together, I just need to rerun the vacuum lines again and run a turbo controller and it should run under its own steam. I will do that in October or November is my current plan, and I can always get 0.75 on the dollar or so out of the quick jacks.

Update: I now have the 930 here in Alexandria as of this afternoon. I ended up having to buy the p-zeros because that was what was available and I wanted to have everything sorted before it came to me. I was able to fly home three weeks ago to get the car to the local Porsche independent that had been servicing the car.
Wife and I drove around for awhile this afternoon and went to Springfield for some coffee. Won't be doing that ever again given the traffic and level of stupid out there. Drove by BlackTalon's house on the way back actually .
Will likely take the car to the PCA/German automobile Concours event this weekend down in Lorton for something chill to do this Sunday.
I also got connected with somebody from Potomac PCA to help me with detailing and preservation, so I have that also somewhat figured out now.
Thanks again for all the help! Having a running turbo-charged Porsche is pretty rad.

Yep, there's a pretty high level of stupid there
On a related note, if you drive to Springfield after 1 pm on a weekday traffic on 395 and on 95 where 395 dumps in will already be fuched. Best bet is Telegraph to Franconia Rd, or Beltway --> Van Dorn --> Franconia Rd.
And on a related, related note: drove to Springfield for coffee????????????

Technically it was Annandale now that I look at it. We didn't have any better ideas for a mid-day destination and we like this "French" Korean place that has a bunch of baked stuff and Coffee (Tours de Jours). We are not very exciting - 90% of the driving of that car will be going somewhere together for breakfast or coffee probably.
Basically down Duke Street until it turns into little river turn pike.
Getting into and out of the garage around the immobile 951 was a moderate challenge. I am going to jockey that around some more on Friday with help from my neighbor to make that a little easier. Either way, this is all coming together pretty nicely.
