I went to one a few years ago. It's a good way to see the people running the local PCA group. Nothing spectacular but worth a trip if you have nothing else going on that night.

Funny thing,, I was invited to Summit Point this Sat by the local Jaguar Dealers for a free day on the track, breakfast and buffet lunch. There is a vintage race (afternoon) and individual driving of the Jag of your choice on the Jefferson Circuit all day long. I will chose the 390 hp XR.

Anyone been to this event in the past? I got an invite in the mail last month and decided it was something to do,, especially for free.

I went to the Seneca Park picnic a few yrs back and its a good time. A mini concours and a great spread. Don't OD on all that good cooking tho, there is plenty of food. So, if you are a PCA member be sure to go. It may be open to all Porsche owners.

Thanks for posting my fun run pics!!!

Gill, did you get the 993 delivered yet? I am waiting for my call pal...

See you all soon, Cabman

Cabman:

I have been in the paddock when the "taxi service" for those invited to the jag test want to return to the hospitality tent (conveniently located in the hot paddock).

This year, I will have NO MERCY for the idot mini-van drivers they have shuttling people back and forth. This is a large race event with race cars flying all around the paddock and the shuttle drivers .... well let me just stop there.

Probably the WORST situational awareness I've ever seen by a group of drivers ...above and beyond what I see on the beltway.

Now, Re: jags

My family (in CT) just picked up an '04 Type S R Supercharged 4.2 V8. Nice car. I think it is the one with 390 hp. My father already stopped driving it b/c WAY TOO MUCH HP for a race driver on the go on the street. Mind you, in CT you can speed as many of the roads there have traffic that actually moves.

Better check the Potomac website! The newcomers party is canceled. Intersports parking lot is getting repaved. I think the plan is to have all come to the picnic

Jace: Thanks for the info on the Jaguar Event. I am going just to see what it's all about and I bet there is a lot of confusion with the Vintage Race and the testing of Jags going on at the same time. I am not sure how complicated that gets.

But I hope its a positive experience. Besides, I get to take the 911 from Annandale to Summit Point and back which is always exciting. Route 9 in WV is hilly and windy and in the early am is fun to drive.

Having never driven a XR 390 turbo I want to experience it first hand and compare it to the 996. I know that do not retain value after 2 years, you can get one for peanuts so they must not be too reliable. Anyway, I will let the board know how this venture turned out after Saturday...

TGIF (its 4:27 am but still a good day),, Cabman
