View Full Version : Recaro: worst dealer support award?

In trying to track down "parts" for my recaro seats I have discovered that Recaro has a "not so good" dealer support / supply system for our area. How did I discover this?

Negative Example #1

Tony at Intersport has been trying to contact Recaro NA (Auburn Hills, MI) at my request looking for race shell sliders with tabs / handle on the inside of the rails and both the 25mm and 55 mm seat cushion replacements. After several days of his trying I call him today to learn that they aren't responding.

So... I called Recaro today. They tell me the only other dealer in the area is Evolution Autosports in Chantilly, VA (not true) Get this ... 8 WEEK wait on the seat cushions from Germany, sliders are made here but have to get through a dealer. They don't know if any shops in our area have them in stock. (understandable if inventories aren't linked).

Negative Example #2

I call Evolution Motorsports in Chantilly and they stock NOTHING for recaros, including sliders and mounting rails and definitely not replacement cushions. The guy there tells me that every seat they order is built to order by recaro, no regional warehouse stocking and unless the dealer wants to stock several on his own there is a long wait for a seat.

Positive Example #1

David Toy, Autoy, Inc. Rockville, MD, 301-770-0700 admits to all the above BUT, has the patience (and a lot of it) to wait for recaro customer service to get back to him. Dave has sliders but P#0.7 6.3 (locking tabs on outside of rails). He is the only guy looking for P# 0.7 0.9 (locking tabs on inside of rails) for me. Just got the call back from Autoy, Inc., Recaro is "making these up" and shipping today. (not pre-made??) Apparently, Dave must have the "magic touch" with recaro due to his 20 year relationship with them.

Anybody in Rockville area want to pick these up for me and I'll get them from you over the weekend? Autoy closes at 5:30 - 6:00 and not open on Saturdays. Might be a six of PBR in it 4 u

FYI to those recaro owners out there.

Jase, I can pick them up for you if you want. Does he have them in already? I could drop by Autoy on Thursday or Friday and grab them. Save the PBR for Richard .

Jason,

I'd be happy to pick 'em up for you and drop 'em by your house. I work in Rockville, but I'm not sure where Autoy is... Just send me directions and what day the part will be in.

BTW, did you find a bottle of wine by your back door the other day?

Pari:

THANKS! That would be very helpful. They are shipping this afternoon via UPS 2nd day. I would assume that mean Friday would be a safe bet. I'll send you a PM off board.

I'll keep the PBRs for another bribery attempt... sorry RL. :D

Jason, If you need anything further, call Par Cars in New Rochelle, NY. They are probably the biggest Recarro seller on the East Coast and advertise in Pano. I ordered from there and had the seats I wanted in 2 days. Called later for another part and had it in 2 days too. This, at a time when other Recaro dealers told me there would be a long wait for the seats.

Bill:

Thanks for the reminder. I forgot about Par but I also subconsciously wanted to give my business to a local vendor. Turns out to be harder than you would think...

Pari is going to help me out.

John, I cracked that open just last night ... delicious. Thank you once again. Unfortunately, Tatiana cannot have wine in her "delicate" condition. More for me ...
