"I had noticed that the ones most likely to run a red light, not give way to pedestrians and generally drive recklessly and too fast were often the ones driving fast German cars."

Maybe since I drive a 996 I'm not as bad as someone driving a 991 ;)

IMHO, that is a flawed study/report. From my own limited experience, yes, some expensive car owners can be jerks, but I don't think I'd say that about the majority. Hardly a conclusive list, but I've noticed the following vehicle sub-groups tend to be likely jerks:
Toyota Corrolla S (for some reason, it seems the "S" raises the bar....)
Toyota Prius (maybe 40% or so that seem to think driving a hybrid entitles them to speed around)
Nissan Rogue (does the name conform with their personality??)
Cars with darkly tinted front door windows (I guess the perception of anonymity emboldens them)
Loud overly-lifted pickup trucks (enough said.....)

The ones who never give point-bys on track are usually driving German cars, in my experience.

Prius and Tesla drivers seem to be the worst. I have had more negative encounters with those two vehicles.
A guy driving a brand new Tesla X told me I was snob for driving my 10 year old Cayman.
A Prius driver berated me for my Cherokee. I pointed out that no one walks outside in the snow and is pleased they have a Prius.

My mother told me that on snow days you were supposed to walk to work or school uphill . . . . both ways.
