HMM how do I say this. OK...
We are moving to TX.
Long story short. My job will end in July. My boss had some contacts. I was invited out for an interview. Last Monday and Tuesday I went to Austing to check out the area and have the interview. Wed. Morning I got an offer and finalized negotiations on Friday. Companies move fast.
Starting March 15 I will be a scientist at Applied Nanotech, Inc. I am really excited about the new job but not that actual moving. That's a long way.
I just wanted to say thanks to all the local Dorki and PCA persons whom I was just getting to know. I guess the debut of the ST will be at Texas Speeedway with the Longhorn Region. Now there is an extra spot for the Z2 VIR event which I just withdrew from. Rest Assured the car will be be on the track. Come to think of it I may have to plumb another oil cooler for the weather out there. I guess I will deal with that when the time comes.
The best thing is that they run DE's year round. No weather worries there. Also Austin is supposed to have the best driving roads in the state. I can't wait to explore some of the twisty roads I found in the rental car.
If you have powder coating needs - you have 3 weeks. Cleaned/Stripped parts will easily be done. I will then pass on the oven to Kurt and his system. Now you all can fight over the little bit of time he has available.

Jamie,
Firstly, congrats on the new position - it seems you have jumped a gap that has claimed many a capable individual over the last few years.
Its our loss, but the prospect of living in an active region with no winter hiatus is very attractive! Scheduling engine drops will be a challenge.
You are now fully credentialled as the NOVA ambassador to Texas :)

Your leaving already, we just met! Congrats on your new job, I'm sure you will miss the NoVA salt filled winters. Just because you will be in Texas doesn't mean you can't post on dorkiphus.

Thanks for all the encouragement. Its not easy leaving behind lots of friends to head into the unknown.
Of course I will still post here. That's why I titled as saying not goodbye. Just because I am away doesn't mean I will go away. Besides, it will be a few weeks before I turn the key to head south and then west. I am sure I will be absent for a short time while I drive west and find new living quarters - this time with a garage. That won't be for a few weeks.
I am just glad the weather held out to meet more of you on Sat. morning. Too bad more didn't show up. Remember it only takes one early car to represent. HOw many SC's and Carreras did it take? That's what I thought.
At this point the project is going by trailer and the targa will be shipped by carrier truck. I guess I need to start setting that up. Any suggestions on carriers?

At least you were brave enough to bring the early 911 out in the salt!! Let me know if you need any help in the moving/packing process.
Justin, it was nice meeting you on Saturday as well.

Austin is a great place, you just have to say "y'all" all the time and you'll fit right in.
Good luck!

Austin’s a great place for barbeque, Tex Mex & Blues Music! In a past life w/Uncle I used to travel there 4 or 5 times a year. A real party town down around 6th. street. They even have several decent New York style Delis. Watch your foot wells getting in & out w/cowboy boots! Use lots of wax, summer is long!
For testing purposes head south on the freeway, out of town past the “lake” until you see the “Trouper” on an overpass. After that you have at least 10 miles or so of open road… (insert legal disclaimer here)

Dan, We met at Summit during the club race a few years ago. Yep its a twin.
I am glad we all figured out who was leaving. AS much as I regret leaving its life direction = fast forward. Besides, no snow/ice/salt. Love it.
