Short version.
Looking for a contact that is willing and able to (re)code our 2012 X5d to support the added OEM tow harness.
At this moment, it appears all lights, except the brakelights, are working. :bang::bang: I would like to have functioning brake lights, so I can actually tow my Miata to VIR this coming Friday for the PCC Audi event.
Free remote coding was provided with the kit, however, oh the irony, as the coders are currently at SEMA, they cannot code remotely.... I know, it would have been nice had the coding issue/requirement be documented/explained in the installation/ordering instructions... but that's a different discussion (I suggested this to Steve from Invisihitch, to prevent others from having similar issue).
TL&DR
Install went without a hitch (cheap pun, I know), and the fact that the hitch when not in use, is Invisible, is worth the few extra bucks (extra towing capacity over OEM BMW hitch, appears to be worth it too).
Aside from sparse instructions from Invisihitch (but thank you, intarwebs, for videos of other vendors showing how it's done), no issues, except this one...
Adding tow hitch with BMW requires recoding. Because, as I found out the hard way, all lights, except brake lights, are functioning. To get functioning brake lights, one needs recoding. This coding also disables PDC when the trailer is connected, activates anti-trailer-sway, allows for zoom-in function on the back up camera etc.. :p
Have a call out to my BMW dealer, however, I think business must be great, as I haven't gotten a response back on either phone calls or email(s) to my service advisor. :grrr:
Thanks for reading...
