Fellow Porsche fanatics, I am in desperate need of getting my 911sc passed through inspection. I was wondering if anyone can recommend me a shop that does MD inspections that won't nitpick my SC for things like lack of emmission equip., no rear seat belts, and no handbrake light.

Nah Tim, he takes too long. I spoke with Paul M. today, he referred me to a place in Potomac that would fail it only for major stuff. I am taking it by to the Potomac Amaco this wednesday, we'll see how it goes. The rear seats are coming out wednesday. Tim, haven't seen the 964 out lately, you putting her in storage for the winter this early.

If he's still arround there's a guy who used to work there last name "Proctor". There were two brother's I can't at the moment remember this one's first name. I'm sure it will come to me later.

Depending on who you get Potomac Amaco is just like the rest. They are pretty straight up but unconiously they will look for things that are easy to fix so they can make some money on quick in&out repairs.
Wear grubby clothes so they know you are not from Potomac. Let them know that anything they find you will fix yourself.
It's a crap shoot hopefully it will work out!

Mine was done in Rockville at a station on Randolph road just past the RR tracks. He got me on the usual stuff, but stuff I should have fixed anyway.
Before I went the PO's mechanic called ahead. Some times the recommendation is the best. These guy's knew porsches because it was across the street from a European Repait facility.
Good luck.

Pari, my brother stopped by my office.
There are two guy's that have been at the station for probably 25plus years off and on. Leanord Proctor and Rickey Hart.
They are good guy's sort of.
You might mention Butch and Bill Miller. They might just make the list even longer. Just kidding. Good luck tomarrow!

Thanks Bill, I spoke with Ricky Hart yesterday, he said to bring it by at 3:30pm tomorrow. I heard he won't nitpick my SC for little things, but we'll see. I hope that it passes, this process is taking way too long. I'll let you know how it goes. Steve, the lighter the better, I am going to switch up to rs door panels. Some sport seats would be nice, some recaro's or sparco. Slowly but surely it will transform.

MUHAHAHAHA........My 911SC passed inspection today no sweat. God bless you Ricky Hart, you are a good man. I guess I just needed someone who knows 911's to check it out. I would recommend him for anyone in need of a MD inspection, he is a real nice guy. Thanks again Bill, Ricky had some nice things to say about your brother Butch. Paul M., you are the man, I owe you big time. It's good to know that I have someone in the area that I can count on for help with my 911. So finally the heaviest weight is gone, the one that was on my shoulders. :P

I'm still not legal!! Rrr. The shop keeps making adjustments and it hasn't gone through. It's ticking me off since I need to title/reg it and can't w/o the proper inspection. When does it expire for 83's anyhow.

Hey Gang, I stopped by the MVA last friday, boy was I in for a surprise, I was under the assumption that it wouldn't be that busy since people would be spending time for with their families for Thanksgiving. Man was I wrong, what a mess the MVA was. I had to wait in three lines and the whole process of getting my tags and title took 4 hours. But it was all worth it, my SC is now street legal, so don't be surprised if you see a loud brown SC whizzing by, I still have the new owner grin plastered on my face. :D

Congrats, Pari!!

Now that you are legal, when can you legally lead us through those twisty MD. roads? :D

BTDT here in NoVA. On the advice of some of my brighter NoVA collegues, I started going to the motor vehicle offices further out in the country. Short waits or no waiting at all. And, I'd drive a 911 to get there, just so I could enjoy a romp in the country. :)

LOL, I'm not so sure of that Bill, do you have backdated heat exchangers with SSI's. Besides, you gotta remember coupes are more aerodynamically inclined than the cabs  . I got the Bursch 2in/1out exhaust on it too, low mile p/c set from an 82 SC that has the higher compression ratio. Aside from that, weight saving is officially in effect, I took out the rear seats this past Sunday, switched up to a CD player(saved weight of the bulky tapes :D ), installed a lighter optima battery, and there is definitely more to come. My future weight saving initiatives will be new rs door panels, some sport seats, stripping the carpeting, and some lightweight "17 or "18 fikse or kinesis. As for performance wishes, some carbs would be nice, maybe a turbocharger, then we'll see who will be in who's mirror. MUHAHAHA
Charlie, I should have the route planned out soon, anyone up for a practice run?
